Jesus Christ promised, and sent us, his Holy Spirit to lead us into the fullness of truth. We now call on his name as we make our prayer to God our Father.
Let us pray for the leaders of the Church: may they be guided by the Holy Spirit and lead all people into a deeper understanding of the Christian Gospel: (pause) Lord hear us.
We pray for the leaders of our secular society: may they, in all their dealings, never set themselves up in opposition to God’s plan but seek to co-operate with him in making the world a better place: (pause) Lord hear us.
For a growth in holiness of all Christians: may they be one in Christ and his Holy Spirit and fulfil their vocation to holiness of life, learning to be truly open to the workings of God’s Spirit at all times: (pause) Lord hear us.
Let us pray for the sick and suffering, especially those among the members of our own community: may they understand, through the gift of their Christian faith, that suffering brings patience, perseverance and hope: (pause) Lord hear us.
We pray with Mary, filled with God’s truth and love: Hail Mary … etc.
In silence now we make our own personal petitions to God our Father.
God our Father, you guide us with your Spirit in whose power we make our prayers to you, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
