We pray to God our Father trusting that he hears and answers our prayers which we make in the name of Christ the Good Shepherd, who died for us and rose from the dead to bring us the living waters of eternal life.

Let us pray for the leaders of the Church: may they, like their Risen Lord, lead us to the spring of living waters of grace. May they lead us into the truths of the gospel and the living bread of Christ’s body. Lord hear us.

We pray for the civic leaders of our society: may they hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and fulfil their responsibility in guarding against those elements which corrupt the morals of our young people. Lord hear us.

For those in our world who experience the sense of loss and betrayal: may the light of the Risen Lord shine in their hearts, bringing warmth by its presence. May they know that they are never abandoned by the Good Shepherd who gave his life for everyone. Lord hear us.

Let us pray for the members of this community: may we, like Saint Paul and Saint Barnabas, be a light of faith to our friends and neighbours so that they too may come to believe in the love and power of the Good Shepherd. Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd, as we say together: Hail Mary … etc.

We make our own petitions to God our Father.

God our Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit, we believe that you always hear the yearnings of our hearts and continue to guard and guide us. We make these and all our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
